As a Welder in the paving industry, you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing paving equipment, ensuring its safe and efficient operation. Your expertise in welding techniques and ability to work with various metals will contribute to the overall success of our paving projects.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks to repair and maintain paving equipment, including asphalt pavers, rollers, and screeds.
  • Inspect equipment to identify areas requiring repair, such as worn or damaged components, cracks, or structural weaknesses.
  • Utilize various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, ARC) to weld and fabricate metal parts and components.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to ensure accurate fabrication and repair work.
  • Select appropriate welding equipment, tools, and materials for each task, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Clean, prepare, and set up surfaces for welding by removing rust, paint, and debris.
  • Conduct post-weld inspections to ensure the integrity and quality of welds, making any necessary adjustments or repairs.
  • Collaborate with other members of the paving team to prioritize welding tasks and minimize equipment downtime.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of welding equipment and materials.
  • Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work area in a clean and organized manner.
  • Document work performed, including repairs, fabrication details, and materials used.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Welder, preferably in the paving or heavy equipment industry.
  • Proficiency in various welding techniques, such as MIG, TIG, and ARC.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Strong knowledge of metal properties and welding procedures for different metals commonly used in the paving industry.
  • Familiarity with the safe operation and maintenance of welding equipment and tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality welds.
  • Physical strength and dexterity to work with heavy equipment and materials.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and practices in the construction and paving industry.
  • Welding certification(s) preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Work Environment:

  • Outdoor Work: As a welder in the paving industry, you can expect to primarily work outdoors. Paving projects often take place on construction sites, highways, roads, or other outdoor locations. This means you will be exposed to various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or wind.
  • Exposure to Noise, Grease, and Dust: The work environment may expose employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust typically associated with a paving site.
  • Proximity to Heavy Equipment and Moving Machinery: Employees will regularly work near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
  • Proximity to High Traffic Areas: Work may involve proximity to high-traffic areas.
  • Exposure to Various Substances: Work may involve exposure to a variety of substances commonly found on paving sites, such as asphalt, form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel, and ready-mixed concrete.

 

The posted salary or pay compensation ranges are approximate and dependent on applicable experience and qualifications. Upper ranges are flexible.
